Marisa Tomei, Ethan Hawke, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Natasha Lyonne and Becky Ann Baker are among the stars who will join The New Group's previously announced 2010-11 season, which includes plays from Wallace Shawn, Tommy Nohilly and Moises Kaufman.
The season kicks off on December 13 with Nohilly's Blood From a Stone starring Hawke as Travis, Rubin-Vega as Yvette, Lyonne as Sarah, Baker as Margaret, Gordon Clapp as Bill and Thomas Guiry as Matt. Rubin-Vega, Lyonne and Hawke are all New Group veterans, with Lyonne previously appearing in Two Thousand Years and Rubin-Vega in Everythings Turning Into Beautiful. Hawke directed the company's revival of A Lie of the Mind earlier this year and starred in a 2005 revival of Hurlyburly. Directedy by New Group Artistic Director Scott Elliott, the show follows a troubled working-class family in Connecticut, and will run through February 19, 2011.
Wallace Shawn's Marie and Bruce will feature Marisa Tomei and Frank Whaley in the title roles. Elliott will again direct, with previews beginning March 3, 2011. Whaley returns to the New Group after starring in last year's A Lie of the Mind. The play,a story of marital strife, will run through April 23.
The season closes with One-Arm, which is based on a short story of the same name and an unproduced Tennessee Williams screenplay. Moises Kaufman will direct, with casting to be announced at a later date. The show will run from May 5, 2011 through June 25. All productions will be staged at the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row.
